Dwight Greene

An Anchorage pastor accused of molesting a teenage girl he led in worship has been arrested. The Anchorage Police Department said Pastor Dwight Greene turned himself in Wednesday afternoon. Late Tuesday, police had actually sought the public's help in finding Greene on suspicion that he was intentionally evading them. Greene, who leads the Calvary Chapel of Anchorage, is now in jail and waiting to appear before a judge to answer charges of felony sexual abuse. "There is a warrant for felony sexual assault of a minor," said APD spokesperson Anita Shell. Greene is accused of sexually abusing a teenage member of his congregation, a young person he taught in bible study. APD said she was a 15-year-old member of the church who had cataloged sexual abuse by Greene in her diary and that her father discovered the confessions in the diary. The girl wrote, "Today he told me he wanted to kiss me. When he does this stuff I don't even know what to do or say. It's scary but I can't tell anyone." (, 11/17/2006)

A Baptist pastor from an interior village was arrested on charges he molested his adopted teenage daughter, State Troopers said. Richard Cook, 46, is accused of having sex with the girl twice and touching her genitals often during the past 19 months, according to court documents. He has been charged with one count each of first- and second-degree sexual abuse of a minor. Troopers said Cook first sexually touched the victim, then 13, in Oct. 1997. Four months later, the molestation became an “almost daily” event despite the girl’s protests, according to court documents. The girl’s adoptive mother, who had started working outside the home, suspected something was amiss because Cook “changed his behavior and demeanor,” according to the documents. But when she questioned her husband and daughter, both denied anything was going on, troopers said. The girl attempted suicide before she reported what happened. Troopers said Cook has since admitted to the sexual contact, stating he knew his actions were wrong but that he “just got mixed up a bit,” according to documents. He was arrested at a Fairbanks motel. Cook and the women had traveled to town to seek help, said police. (AP, 4/27/1999)

Shawn Anthony Justice

A former Alaska pastor has been convicted of sexually abusing a teenage girl. Shawn Anthony Justice, 32, was found guilty earlier this month of eight counts of sexual abuse of a minor, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported. Justice met the victim, now 15, when he was pastor of Corinthian Baptist Church in Fairbanks in 2007. Justice was dismissed as pastor of the church in August 2008. He then led a satellite church, also in Fairbanks. The girl testified during Justice's trial that he began sending her text messages of a sexual nature and they began a relationship in 2009.
